Part 2: The Fear of Expansion | 7 Things That May Be Subconsciously Keeping You From Your Desired Results

Part 2: The Fear of Expansion | 7 Things That May Be Subconsciously Keeping You From Your Desired Results

Welcome back to Part 2 of this series.

In Part 1, we talked about the energy of scarcity and some of the subtle ways it can influence our choices, especially when we're afraid of losing something, missing out, or not having enough.

This time, I want to talk about something a little different.

The fear of expansion.

Because sometimes you aren't holding yourself back because you don't want more.

You actually want it so badly.

You can see the vision.

You can feel that you're ready.

You may even know exactly what you want to do next.

And yet, when the opportunity to actually expand arrives, suddenly you feel uncomfortable.

You start overthinking.

You procrastinate.

You find reasons to wait.

You tell yourself you're not ready.

You suddenly become very interested in doing literally anything else. 😂

I've noticed this pattern many times through my readings and channeling.

Sometimes the thing standing between you and the next version of your life isn't a lack of desire.

It's the discomfort of becoming someone who can actually hold what you've been asking for.

Here are two ways this can show up.

4. Avoiding Important Conversations and Inspired Action Because You Feel Uncomfortable or Scared

Sometimes you already know what you need to do.

You know you need to send the email.

You know you need to have the conversation.

You know you need to ask for what you want.

You know you need to make the offer.

You know you need to apply.

You know you need to raise your prices.

You know you need to follow up.

You know you need to finally start the project.

You know you need to walk away.

You know.

And yet...

You don't do it.

Instead, you think about it.

And think about it.

And think about it some more.

You wait for the perfect moment.

You wait until you feel more confident.

You wait until you know exactly what will happen.

You wait until you're no longer scared.

But what if you're waiting for a feeling that isn't actually required?

Expansion often feels uncomfortable.

Elevation often feels scary.

You're asking yourself to do something you've never done before, become someone you've never been before, or step into a situation you don't yet know how to navigate.

Of course there may be fear.

Of course there may be uncertainty.

That doesn't automatically mean you're on the wrong path.

Sometimes fear is simply a sign that you're standing at the edge of your current comfort zone.

Think about how many times you've had an intuitive nudge to do something and immediately started talking yourself out of it.

“I'll do it later.”

“Maybe it's not the right time.”

“What if they say no?”

“What if it doesn't work?”

“What if people judge me?”

“What if I embarrass myself?”

“What if I'm not good enough?”

And sometimes the opportunity quietly passes while you're still waiting to feel ready.

This is why I believe discernment is so important.

Not every uncomfortable feeling is a sign to stop.

Sometimes discomfort is your intuition telling you, “This isn't right for you.”

But sometimes discomfort is simply your nervous system saying, “This is new.”

Those are two very different messages.

One of the questions I love asking myself is:

“Am I actually receiving a warning, or am I simply being invited to grow?”

Because your next level may require you to do things your current self has never done before.

You may have to send the message.

Have the conversation.

Take the chance.

Make the investment.

Say the thing.

Show your work.

Ask for more.

Let yourself be seen.

And yes, it may feel scary.

Do it anyway if it feels aligned.

You don't need to wait until you're completely fearless.

Sometimes courage is simply taking the next step while your hands are still shaking.

And inspired action doesn't always look dramatic.

Sometimes it's one email.

One conversation.

One application.

One decision.

One purchase.

One post.

One boundary.

One tiny step that changes the direction of everything that comes after it.

Pay attention to those little nudges.

Sometimes the thing you've been asking the Universe for is on the other side of an action you've been avoiding.

5. Letting Your Limiting Beliefs Become Your Entire Identity

This one is a big one.

We all have limiting beliefs.

Everyone.

The problem isn't necessarily having a limiting thought.

The problem is when you start treating that thought as who you are.

You don't just think:

“I'm bad with money.”

You start saying:

“I'm just not a money person.”

You don't just think:

“I'm nervous about dating.”

You start saying:

“I'm terrible at relationships.”

You don't just think:

“My business is struggling right now.”

You start saying:

“I'm not successful.”

You don't just think:

“I haven't figured this out yet.”

You start saying:

“I'm someone who never figures things out.”

Do you see the difference?

A belief is something you can question.

An identity can feel like a fact.

And once you attach a limiting belief to your identity, you may unconsciously start collecting evidence to prove it.

You notice every time something goes wrong.

You remember every rejection.

You focus on every mistake.

You replay every failure.

You compare yourself to people who seem further ahead.

And then you say:

“See? This is just who I am.”

But is it?

Or is it simply a story you've repeated so many times that it started to feel like the truth?

Your current circumstances are not necessarily a permanent description of who you are.

You can have struggled with money without being “bad with money.”

You can have experienced unhealthy relationships without being “unlovable.”

You can have failed at something without being “a failure.”

You can have made mistakes without becoming “a person who always makes bad decisions.”

You can be inexperienced without being incapable.

You can be scared without being weak.

You can be confused without being lost forever.

And you can be in a season of figuring things out without deciding that this is your permanent identity.

Sometimes your desired result requires you to stop identifying so strongly with the version of yourself who doesn't have it yet.

This doesn't mean pretending everything is perfect.

It doesn't mean repeating affirmations while ignoring reality.

It means giving yourself permission to believe that your current reality is a chapter, not your entire story.

Ask yourself:

“What would I believe about myself if I stopped using my past as evidence of my future?”

That's a powerful question.

Because maybe you're not actually incapable.

Maybe you just haven't learned how yet.

Maybe you're not behind.

Maybe you're on a completely different timeline.

Maybe you're not bad at receiving.

Maybe you're still learning how to feel safe with having more.

Maybe you're not unlucky.

Maybe you're simply expecting your next chapter to look exactly like your last one.

And maybe it doesn't.

Your identity can expand.

Your self-concept can expand.

Your capacity can expand.

Your life can expand.

You don't have to remain loyal to an old version of yourself just because you've been her for a long time.

A Little Reflection for You

As you move through Part 2, I want you to notice where you may be making discomfort mean “no” when it could simply mean “new.”

Where are you avoiding an action because you're waiting to feel completely ready?

What conversation have you been putting off?

What intuitive nudge keeps coming back?

And what limiting belief have you repeated so many times that it has started to sound like your identity?

You don't have to force yourself into a completely new version of you overnight.

Start smaller.

Take the next aligned step.

Question the old story.

Let yourself become curious about what else could be possible.

Because sometimes the biggest thing standing between you and your desired results isn't that you don't know what to do.

It's that you're still trying to become comfortable with the idea that you are actually allowed to do it.

And that is where expansion begins.

In Part 3, we'll talk about what happens when you stop listening to yourself, including ignoring the messages your body is giving you and waiting for someone else to change before you allow yourself to move forward.
